About the Ball: The 2011 Rawlings Florida Marlins / Sun Life Stadium Final Game Baseball was used by the Marlins on September 28th, 2011 in a loss to the Washington Nationals. In 2012, the team officially becomes the Miami Marlins, and moves into New Miami Ballpark.
Sun Life Stadium will continue to host the Miami Dolphins, and it is by all accounts a football only stadium that was never appropriate for the game of baseball. The Marlins lasted 15 years, and won 2 World Series Championships in their brief history. The stadium went through many name changes during that time:
It's comparable to the commemorative baseballs that were used and sold for the final games / series in 1999 at the Astrodome, Candlestick Park, County Stadium and Tigers Stadium, most of which are nearly impossible to find now.
