About the Freak-Ball: Another off-color World Series ball, this one from 1978. Since the red '78 World Series ball was the first commemorative MLB ball produced, it's not much of a stretch to assume Rawlings experimented with other colors before settling on red, and ran off some blues as a test or comparison. That or it's just a blatant screw up that nobody cared about.
